You suddenly awaken.
Standing alone in nothing but pitch blackness. Soon the floor begins to light up around your feet. Quickly spreading outwards, tearing away the darkness. The darkness flies away, like crows. Revealing that you're standing on a large circular platform. A tall glass pillar can be seen off in the distance. However, there is no way to get to it.
The floor is made of illuminated stained glass. It depicts a shadowy figure against an off-white background. He is laying on her side, almost completely curled up in the fetal position. There is no detail on him. The silhouette is surrounded by four ornate circles. Within these circles are familiar busts. People you hold dear.
"So much to do...So little time."
The calm voice echoes through your mind. There is no one else around so where could it be coming from?
"Take your time...Don't be afraid, the door is still shut...Please, come forward."

| Carmen awoke with a start. Where was he? How did he get here? Why was it so dark? As if on cue the darkness literally flew away, revealing light. Taking a step backwards, the teen shielded his eyes from the light at first. Waiting a few seconds for his eyes to adjust before really taking in his surroundings.
Slowly he glanced around. His head hazy, and his body tense. He was alone, on some sort of... Platform? And what was with the weird art. Wait...These people...
He could feel a familiar pain starting to grow in his chest. Was this some sort of weird dream? It felt really real though...What was this place. Why was he here? Who made this place? Did I fall through another portal? Oiii...
So much to do...So little time.
The voice caught him off guard. He furrowed his brow in confusion then took another look around the platform. Trying to pin down the source. It sounded like it was in his head. But it couldn't be. Could it? He really didn't need another. Just having one other than his own was more than enough.
Don't be afraid.
"That's much easier said than done..." Carmen muttered and swallowed hard. The safest option was probably to listen to said voice... Not to mention it was possibly the only option. Warily, he started to walk forward, towards the middle of the platform.

Che dothras che drivos "Many things in life are easier said than done." The voice answered Carmen. It would appear that no matter how quiet the lad was, the voice could hear him.
At the exact moment Carmen reached the center of the platform three alters rose from the floor in front of him. Floating above each alter was an orb, filled with what seemed to be smoke. The swirls inside the orbs were mesmerizing, occasionally Carmen could catch a glimpse of what item was hidden inside each sphere. "Inside you a great power lies dormant." The voice spoke again. "If you were to harness this power you could do wonders. Protect those important to you and restore the homes lost to darkness. Or perhaps a different path awaits for you, you could drive your enemies before you and raze their worlds relinquishing them to the waiting maw of darkness."
Each orb shattered like glass, the smoke dissipating into the surrounding air. In their places over the alter were three weapons: a wand, a sword, and a shield. "How would you use this power?" Inquired the voice. "Wisely?" The alter under the wand lit up. "Bravely?" The alter under the sword lit up. "Or perhaps defensively?" The alter under the shield lit up.
"Time continues to pass. What is your choice?"

| Carmen pursed his lips. Well then, whoever this voice was they must’ve had exceptional hearing. He couldn’t help but feel a slight bit of embarrassment at what he had said. Might as well keep most future thoughts to himself.
The orbs were rather pretty, Carmen found himself staring at them at first. Curious as to what they were even for, or why there seemed to be items drifting inside them. He listened closely to what the voice was telling him.
A great power? That was somewhat unexpected. The teen furrowed his brow in confusion. how could there be anything powerful in him? He survived something hellish sure but, he wouldn't consider himself more than just lucky.
He bit his lip, his eyes drifting over each newly revealed choice. He wasn’t all that brave, nor did he want to be. He was tired of having to act like he was. Tired of trying to be. Not that he ever really managed. Defense... If only Carmen had someone left he needed to defend besides himself. Before the Labyrinth it would have been harder for him to choose between the shield and the staff. Because of his family and his homeworld...Those things, he would have defended till the end...But now But now it was just him... And his memories... And the other lingering voice in his head.
If there really was some power inside of him, it’d be best if he used it wisely. So the teenager could actually do some good. As opposed to getting into more ridiculous and avoidable situations. If he was going to be strong, he needed to be responsible. Not reckless.
He took a few steps towards the wand, a bit unsure on whether or not he should just grab hold of the floating object or not. In fact, he was scared. Scared of what might happen when he did. Could it be the wrong choice? Is there a wrong choice? It didn’t seem like there would be. The choice wasn't even worded like there would be; but the doubt was still there in the back of his mind... Just do it. Stop second guessing it. Just do it.
His eyes darted over to the shield, then the sword, before he finished closing the distance between him and the platform. Carefully reaching out and grabbing onto the wand with two hands.
