▲ He waited. Dreaming. It was all he could do. He dreamt of different times. He dreamt of his brother. Wishing sadly that they were together agin. Wishing that they were traveling the world again. Wishing he could start it all over. He'd been so selfish, hadn't he. He should have just heeded mother's warning and not partaken of the darkness that he so freely took from others. He'd left his brother. He'd abandoned his post. He'd even forced his own brother to kill him. What kind of a person was he? Forcing his own brother to kill him because he continued to do something he was told not to do by his parents? He had the feeling he'd been tricked anyway. That lady had tricked him. He knew she had. And now... His brother must hate him. Must think that Niko had hated him. Was he even dead? He figured there would at least be some kind of afterlife. Some kind of place where he'd wake and see... SOMETHING! But all he did was sleep. He could feel it. It had been way too long for him not to. _____________________________________________ The room was silent, blocked off. Sure, little kids had played in here for years. But not a single one knew of the ruins that told of the story of the kind hearted vampire that was tricked into falling into the darkness. The one that forced his own kin to dispose of him. None of the kids were even aware of the rather weak body that lay in the smoky glass case that sat in the back of the darkened room. There was even childish graffiti all over it from the children drawing pictures and stories. There was not a time this generation of kids could remember being without the companionship of the glass case. Some would even pretend that a lost prince or guardian angel lay within the glass. Though no matter how hard one tried, it was impossible to open through brute strength. It was the magic center of Papou Island. MADE BY VEL OF GS

I WALKED WITH YOU ONCE UPON A DREAM ✿ Light, clicking footsteps echoed in the broad chamber, disturbing the dusty quiet. A long shadow streaked across the floor, smoky blue in the evening light, stretching until it touched the base of a coffin of stone and glass. CLUNK. Natalia Faye let the studded head of her axe slide to the floor as she stared at the smoky glass. Over a century of searching. Ancient libraries. Stolen tomes. Rumors. Old herbalists' tales. Half-remembered stories. They had all led her here. Slowly she approached the coffin, looking at the ancient carvings marked over with children's scribbles. Those ancient symbols meant nothing to those tiny hands and jabbering mouths: but to Nataila they could mean everything. Alive or dead? Are you alive or dead, Nikolai Voide? Please live. Please. She slid her fine, pale hand over the glass. Plumes of dust rose in glittering puffs through slanting beams of sunlight. Even with the dust cleared away, she couldn't see through the glass. Natalia kept her eyes fixed on the head of the slab of glass and stone. Her fingers trembled like the tips of bare winter branches as she reached up to slip loose a ribbon tied around her neck. She held it over the coffin. A single, blue stone swung from the loop of silk. Days of toil and streaks of blood bought this amulet for her: a task for a tool, that had been the deal the old wizard made. Taking a deep breath, Natalia spoke the ancient words - soft and slow - to ignite the power of stone. The spell of Unbinding. |

▲ Even as she chanted there was a reaction from the glass case. It began to glow very lightly. A very light purple color. As her words came to an end the slab of glass slid very slowly away from her. Opening up to reveal a blond haired boy caught perpetually in a cycle of youth. He looked no different from the 16 year old boy he appeared as when she last saw him. When the slab was finally finished moving it stopped with a FOOMB! There was a silent pause as nothing seemed to be happening, but then the young vampire's eyes flickered open slightly. They were redder then thick flowing blood and the sclera around his iris was an erie black. He sat up rather slowly. How he had survived so long within that prison was a wonder. It had been so long since the last time he'd had a proper meal. He could drink an entire ocean and still not be full. Sadly, it was the darkness that had woken within him first, as he was starving for something to drink. Gazing into blank space he finally took a look around after awhile. His darkly lit eyes landing on Natalia. natalia faye ● omg... sorry this is short. I'm exhausted and he's rather hungry. x3 MADE BY VEL OF GS

I WALKED WITH YOU ONCE UPON A DREAM ✿ The tinted light set Natalia's face aglow as she chanted the final words of the spell. She took one backward step as the lid rose and slid with a faint shhirrr of glass grating on stone. Natalia held her breath, and looked in the enchanted tomb. There lay Nikolai Voide, still as death. For a brief, terrible moment Natalia thought that he really was dead and her worst fears had been realized. "Niko?" For a moment, silence filled the chamber. It was jarring to see him in the box of stone, wrapped in white like a corpse. But the young vampires' eyelids flickered. A slit of red glinted between pale lids. Then, slowly, he sat up. The colors in the room bled as Natalia's eyes misted over. She fought the urge to take Niko in her arms, to cry. Now wasn't the time or place. And Natalia had learned never to cry. After centuries of sleep, Nikolai would be weak. Starving. And ravenous hunger in a vampire was dangerous. Reaching into a bag at her side, Natalia felt around for a minute, then pulled out a crystal flask filled with blood. It wasn't much. Not nearly enough to slake his thirst. But it might hold him until they found a place to feed. "Nikolai? It's me, Natalia. Do you remember me?" She kept her voice low as she offered the flask. "Here. You need to drink this. It will help ease your hunger."

▲ There was a question that Niko barely heard, but it did cross his mind. She had asked if he knew who she was and then she held out a bottle of thick red liquid inside. He gazed at her blankly for several moments and then reached out and took the bottle. Without a word he quickly uncapped it and tipped it over his mouth, creating a red waterfall that was consumed quite quickly. When it was gone he set it down within his glass prison gently and looked around. He was still starving. Only that of a full source would surly satisfy him. Even if he drank from a hundred bottles, that would not be the same as active, live, pumping blood. Sadly... That would probably mean someone's death. But not the girl's. She had freed him and he was vaguely familiar with her presence. It would probably seem a whole lot clearer when he could actually think for himself. Finally he attempted to get out of the encasement that held him. He almost tripped and fell in the process, but he caught himself on the wall and steadied himself. Around his torso down to his legs he held the sheet close to his body, as if it were the only thing that made sense to him at the moment, but he didn't hold it very well, and so it only covered his front. For several moments he stood dizzy. He barely had enough energy to stand let alone save himself from falling onto the ground. The strength and reflexes required to do that were excruciatingly minuscule at the moment. natalia faye ● Hes searching for a source. which is to say that he'll probably be looking for an adult. Not a child, thankfully. MADE BY VEL OF GS
