Lara grimaced and bit her lip when Abel missed the step, holding her breath until the black-feather wings unfurled. Letting out a sigh, she whisked down the ladder as Abel landed below. If they were lucky, no one inside the house had seen them through some sitting-room window: a man sprouting angel-wings would probably make them inquisitive. "Well... that could've been better."
Lara knew how to jump from a high place and land on her feet. The wooden crates rattled a little, but that was all. No loud noises. No crashing or thudding. "I didn't get it my first time either. All things considered, this didn't go half bad." Abel had seemed embarrassed by his fall, so Lara wanted to reassure him. It was a good thing he could fly, though. Otherwise...
"Well!" Giving Abel a bright look, Lara wiped her palms on her skirt (staining it with dirty-orange rust streaks) and stepped off the pile of crates. "Shall we go?" Walking fast, she made her way out of the alley, away from the house and that pile of crates. The sooner they got out of there the better.
