to flesh & blood |
solomon stood in the small kitchen, arms crossed. blue twilight pressed in against the windows: by the time he had carried abbi back to the apartment, the sun had almost dipped below the horizon line.
he wanted to smoke, but abbi hadn't told him it was alright out on the street. It couldn't be acceptable to smoke in her house. for some reason, the taste and feel of it made him more comfortable. more relaxed. staying in one place like this... it didn't sit right. by this time he should be out of town. moving. searching for those half-remembered places he saw in his minds' eye. Plus, his staff was back at the courtyard.
what should he do? stay? abbi was still weak. solomon had carried her back to the apartment, cautiously opened the front door, and put abbi onto her bed. it hadn't taken long for her to fall asleep. Solomon had waited at her bedside the whole time, watching until her eyelids fell. glancing at the girl's open bedroom door, the Nobody sighed. solomon knew that she could have another attack. if she was alone...
Solomon grabbed a chair from the kitchen table. Carrying it with one hand, he crossed the room and set it down by Abbi's door. If she woke up, or started to cry again, he would hear it from this spot. Pulling back his hood, Solomon leaned his head against the wall. Why did he have to leave his staff? He needed it....
It had been a long day. The Nobody felt himself relax, his hands loosening, eyes starting to close... Solomon was still sitting there, half-asleep, when the handle on the front door turned.

If only I could bring myself to say the truth; you're the love of my life Jack trudged ToTrudge:TheSlowWearyDepressingYetDeterminedWalkOfAManWhoHasNothingLeftInLifeExceptTheImpulseToSimplySoldierOn up to the apartment, and opened the door Wasn'tItOpen?IKnowIDidn'tStopToCloseItIWasTooBusyLookingFor... and left it hanging open behind him WhyBother?It'sNotLikeI'dBeUpsetIfSomeoneCameAndStole... Jack went back and closed the door softly.
He looked around the living room SoWho'sGoingToPayRentNow?IGuessI'llHaveToFindAJobNowThat... and looked around. Next to the bookshelf there was a chicken-sized hole I'mGoingToKillThatPatheticPoultry in the wall, which was clearly meant to be hidden behind a book BetterPutItBackBooksLeftInTheWrongSpotDrive... Jack put the book back in place.
Silent as if he were still in cat form, he walked into the Kitchen StillSmellsLikeBurnedSupperInHereI'llHaveToCleanUpBefore... and saw that a chair was missing WhatTheHellHappenedHere?ThereWasn'tAChairMissingEarlier!Did... Jack frowned, looking around the room. Aside from the chair everything was in its place WhatKindOfTheifOnlyStealsOneChair?
Jack continued to explore the apartment, now remaining quiet intentionally, instead of out of habit ProbablyAGoodHabitToKeep and in the hallway found a man-shaped creature with a giant screw sticking out of it's head WhatIsThatThing!?!ItWasn'tHereBeforeWhyIsItOutside... Jack growled, feeling his feet elongate, his nails thickening, and his fur growing. Jack roared as he dashed forward, claws extended. He wasn't very good at fighting, but he had animal-reflexes and weapons on his side. words 0000 | | tagged | | Mood monster |

to flesh & blood |
Faint rattling broke the stillness which filled the apartment. A light thud echoed through the empty space as the door swung closed. Slowly, Solomon opened his eyes. He hadn't really understood what woke him up: his half-asleep mind had responded to the sound of the door, but the source of the noise just didn't register. Without changing his position, Solomon listened and waited, looking side-eyed at the doorway which led into the hall.
Nothing happened. Then, someone stepped into view. Solomon sat up, all traces of drowsiness gone. Who was this? An intruder? The Nobody didn't have time to ask. Before he could do more than change his posture, something happened which Solomon was completely unprepared for. The boy morphed. A mane. Fur. Claws. A cat-like face. Within seconds, his appearance was completely changed. Growling, roaring, the strange lion-creature attacked.
Something clicked. Snapped. It was as if someone flipped a switch. The Nobody's eyes widened, a surge of adrenaline coursing through him. Abigail. This person was a threat to Abigail. A threat to both their lives. All of his analytical, calm, rational thoughts disappeared. Swallowed up by a single instinct. Taking in everything, every sense acute, all of the information Solomon received was channeled to serve his urge to survive, to take this threat and destroy it.
Solomon moved like a snake, launching himself to his feet and striking at Jack's throat with his open hand, guarding his chest with his other arm. If Solomon struck him down now, the threat could be over permanently. No more attacks. No more danger. The screw was at its' lowest setting, so the energy blast he would produce right now was only about as forceful as a slap. Bare hands. He would just have to do this with his bare hands.

I SIT AROUND JUST TO WATCH THE CLOUDS ► He had carried her home. Solomon. That was his name. The one who had done what he could to keep her alive rather then just left her there on the side of the road to die like any other person would. Jack... Jack was the only other person she could trust. Despite all of his lies and stories, she knew that he would always have her back..... wouldn't he? Yes... Yes he would. He'd had her back for years now. Why wouldn't he be there by her side when she needed him? Why wasn't he here now? Thats not his fault Abbi. He couldn't have known. Thats not fair for you to judge him like that! Solomon placed her inside the covers of her bed and immediately Abigail's eyes became heavy. She was exhausted. But it took her several minutes longer to fall asleep. What it if happened again? What if this had to do with her shaking hands? What if... What if she didn't wake up? Of course her exhaustion quickly took over and she soon passed out into a good sleep. She was woken violently by a roar so load that she fell out of bed. She gasped, adrenaline skyrocketing, and screamed. She was in danger. She was about to get hurt. The entire world seemed to respond to her fear. There were several plants in the apartment, Abbi loved them. Most were potted or some kind of flower. But they quickly responded to their mistress's call. Reaching out with leafy fingers the sudden vines that grew from the plants lengthened and grabbed the two men tightly. They're strength developed as they grew, even to the point of being able to hold a lion should it's claws not tear it apart. Though it would continue to grow until it completely wrapped itself around the two fighting, unwilling to let it's prey go until it's mistress allowed them to.

If only I could bring myself to say the truth; you're the love of my life Jack had almost reached the monster when he heard a piercing sound. It was not unlike a scream, but with his ears half-cat, he was in the unique situation where he couldn't tell if it was actually a scream or just a whining noise. His senses were half-way between two states, and he wasn't used to it. Plus his senses were changing as he continued to change. IsThisSomeKindOfAttackOrLeadUptoAnAttack?
Jack didn't get a chance to respond, as the plants around the apartment came to life, grabbing ahold of everything, including both himself and his assailant. Jack spent long seconds fighting the plants, trying to reach the monster, but they were too strong, too many, and before long he was immobilized anyway. Lions aren't any good at killing plants. WhereDidAllThosePlantsComeFromLikeThatTheOnlyOtherTimeI'veSeenSomethingLikThisWasWhen... Jack quit struggling, and tried to work his mouth back into something that could speak english.
"...What's going on here? Who are you? These plants..." Jack could barely bring himself to think it, let alone say it aloud, but he did it anyway. "...Abbi...?"
Jack stared towards Abbi's room in confusion. words 0000 | | tagged | | Mood bound & confused |

solomon was focused on the new threat. One arm reaching out, half-way into a strike, he kept his eyes fixed on the half-lion. before the two monsters could clash, a scream cut through the air. abigail. the thought came clear through the static haze clouding his mind. abigail was in danger. were there more than one of these things?
Rope. Thick and smooth, wrapping around his chest, arms, knees and waist. This only made things worse: Solomon's survival instinct nearly went haywire. He was trapped. Tied up. Leaning against the tightening vines, the Nobody strained and pulled at his bonds. The lion-creature tried to escape as well, but the grip of the plants was strong and Abbi's magic seemed to reinforce them: no amount of fighting could help Solomon break free.
"... What's going on here? Who are you? These plants... Abbi...?"
At the sound of Jack's voice, some of the fog in Solomon's mind dispersed. Abbi. This creature knew Abigail? Giving up on the idea of escape, Solomon just stood there, staring at Jack and panting from exertion. "You. You know Abigail?" He spoke without hesitation, in a commanding voice. Almost like it was his house that Jack had randomly shown up in, and not the other way around.

I SIT AROUND JUST TO WATCH THE CLOUDS ► She heard struggling. Nothing hit her. Nothing hurt her. What was going on? After a few moments Abigail finally got the courage to look up and look around her room as she was now curled up on the floor. Tears slid down her cheeks. She'd cried so much today. It was awful. She hated crying. She hated the tears. "...What's going on here? Who are you? These plants..." The voice was familiar. Abigail instantly recognized it. Oh god... what would he think after he found out...? She stood up. Her hands shaking. No... Stop. Please stop. Please! But that was the only thought she gave to it as she made her way to the door and peeked out. Her eyes widened in shock as she noticed the vines around her house. "Oh, no no, not again. Not again." She muttered sorrowfully. Then she noticed both Jack and Solomon tied up the way they were. How... How was she supposed to undo this. "Jack... Jack..." She said running over to him she looked at the vines. How was she supposed to reverse this? Walking over to the pot she rose her hand and concentrated really hard. No magic. Gone. Her hands wouldn't stop shaking. For a moment, she stood there looking at them. Why do you keep doing this? Why?Lifting her hands over her face she fell to her knees feeling helpless. She didn't notice that the vines had suddenly started moving again, shrinking back into their normal size and releasing the two from their grasp. She looked up as she heard it move and watched with a shocked expression how the plant situated itself snuggly inside it's pot. When that was over she stood up and ran to Jack, tackling him with a hug. She couldn't stop crying at this point, hiccuping and sobbing. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. He's gone... I lost him. I can't find him. I don't know what happened! I'm sorry. He.. He broke..." She cried into his shoulder.
