ALL THOSE MOMENTS will be lost in time like tears in rain Mikhail sat alone at a small, round table in the back corner, pushing his food around his plate with a silver fork. It was dinner hour at the castle. Keybladers. Servants. Apprentices. Masters. Most of the castle's inhabitants were gathered here, scattered around at different tables. Indistinct conversation rippled through the room, loud but not unpleasant. Clattering silverware, a raucus laugh, lightly ringing glasses. The noise was like the sound of a swollen stream: too much to completely ignore, but not demanding. Just a constant movement in the background. Mikhail had come to this little table to be alone. Business as usual. Finding an empty table hadn't been easy: at the main tables, there were only a few open seats scattered here and there, most of them among groups of people Mikhail didn't know. Even if there was a place next to someone he knew, Mikhail wasn't someone the other keybladers really relaxed around, or just tried to have a nice conversation with. None of the keybladers could be called his friends: those were in short supply. Respected partners? Yes. Friends... No. Sometimes he sat at the same table as Rose, but... Right now his mood didn't allow for the usual calm pleasantries that company required. Sighing, Mikhail leaned back in his chair. Nagi. The Shadow's talk about the Heartless weighed heavy on Mikhail's mind. Tuning out the noise around him, Mikhail stared at an intricate design carved above the hall door. He just sat there: thinking, massaging his temples, stabbing at bits of potato and roasted carrot. Pretty much doing anything but eat. He was so lost in his own thoughts that he never noticed the person approaching his table until they were close enough to speak. MADE BY VEL OF GS

This was her first... Real... Time to eat around so many, commoner people. She felt a little panicky unable to locate her first friend here in Land of Departure, and it would seem rude to just eat in her room. Soon she selected various similar items of food then made her room to the only table that was open. The young man sitting in the seat seemed to scare everyone away, she herself felt like running away, but everywhere else was just tadbit scary.
Closer she got to the boy, wearing a short simple pink gown, black hair flowing out around her, snake scales covered in make-up. She spoke up unconfidently, young many probably didn't even hear her at first, he certainly made no response. "ca-ca-can I si-si-sit he-he-here..." Fearing she spoke a tad bit too low, as her fear made her seem to whisper she spoke a tad bit louder. "Ca-ca-can I-I-I si-si-sit he-he-here?" She waited calmly for his permission, her whole body forming the cutest insecure expression it could probably do.

ALL THOSE MOMENTS will be lost in time like tears in rain "Ca-ca-can I si-si-sit he-he-here?" Mikhail looked up, an expression of mild surprise on his face. Disruptions breaking into his thoughts annoyed Mikahil most of the time, but he hid it well. Good thing, too. The girl standing next to him, holding her plate of food, looked shy. Maybe insecure. Mikhail didn't recognize her, but he had only heard of one new girl at the castle: an ambassador, a princess from Yindse. "Certainly." Standing up, he pulled out a chair near the girl. Usually he wouldn't, but... it seemed like a princess should be treated with special courtesy. Sitting back down, Mikhail retreated back into what he hoped was a comfortable silence for a moment. The last thing he wanted to do was talk. Pretend to be happy. Friendly. But he had to talk sometime. An ambassador couldn't be met with discourtesy. "I don't believe I've seen you here before. You must be the ambassador from Yindse. I'm Mikhail, by the way."
Apparently, she and Lara were thick as theives. Well. If this princess was anything like the red-head, this meal might not go well. MADE BY VEL OF GS

She smiled thankful, not really thinking her royal status may have even influence the choice a little. She was used to everyone in the castle with the same sort of status, not really caring or even show her any high respect. She turned a shade of red when he pulled out her a sit, then offering for her to sit down. Was this normal for around here? She wasn't suddenly sure, she whispered really trying to speak "tha-tha-thank you.." but her words were probably to low for him to hear. Sitting down, she watched as he went back to his seat. her face a shade of red unsure what to do next, should she thank him? Should she ask why he did that, and if it had to do with her being royalty it was unnecessary. If she asked if he did it because she was royalty, what if it was merely a welcome greeting around here? What if she actually offended him.
After he had taken his seat, she just stared at her food suddenly unsure what to do fearing to actually pick up her fork and eat. She flinched slightly as he began speaking to her. He asked if she was the ambassador, so he didn't know? So the whole seating thing was just a welcome to lunch ceremony? Was it a one time deal? or all the time? Why did she know so little about keybladers? "Ye-ye-ye-yes, I-I am. Hello, ni-ni-nice to -to mee-mee-meet you." she reached out her hand over the table in attempt to shake his. Was this allowed, reaching over food?

ALL THOSE MOMENTS will be lost in time like tears in rain "Ye -ye -ye -yes, I-I am. Hello, ni-ni-nice to -to mee-mee-meet you." Expression softening just a little, Mikhail reached across the table and shook her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, as well." Mikhail looked back down at his plate for a second. "So. How are you enjoying the Land of Departure so far, Princess?" The keyblader kept his tone calm and light. He just wanted to make this girl feel comfortable. Help her to relax. The title of ambassador carried a lot of responsibility, a lot of pressure. And for a girl as shy as Trinity seemed to be, the task must be doubly hard. For the moment, he pushed his troubled thoughts away, turning them down like a dial on a radio. They played steady in the background as he took a small bite of his food. Trinity hadn't even touched her fork yet. Maybe he should just eat. Make this seem a little more normal than it actually was. Ordinarily, Mikhail would have waited for the princess to start her meal first: but strict formality seemed like more of a problem than a sign of respect right now. Mikhail re-assumed his usual poise. He smiled, not with too much familiarity but in a friendly, quiet way. A convincing smile had come in useful on more than one occasion. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Enjoying Land of Departure? Of course! She was, why this was the most greatest of all things she has encountered... Already she made 2 friends! On top of that everyone seemed just so happy to be here, it was as great a place of light as the stories foretold. Why she wished she could be somehow destined to live here going on occasion missions to bring out the light, such a wonderful fairytail.
She felt instantly relaxed remembering that her whole reason of being here was to meet those of legend and well earning their trust for world connections. "Yes, of course, this place is absolutely amazing!" she spoke excitedly unable to hold any of her feelings down like a true professional royal.
After becoming more relaxed she was able to eat her food, her eating style was a bit odd and extremely professional. Either way however the food went down the throat straight into the stomach, so in reality all eating styles were the same in the end. After getting a little bit of food ate, she began asking him questions happy to feel better relaxed. "How long have you been here?" She looked away a sly smile of curiosity on her face, "Are you a keyblader?"

ALL THOSE MOMENTS will be lost in time like tears in rain "Yes, of course, this place is absolutely amazing!"Trinity's sudden change from extreme shyness to open excitement surprised him. Frankly, it made him a little suspicious. Maybe this was just for show. Royalty were often fine actors. Looking at the princess's expression, however, Mikhail dismissed the idea. No... something about Trinity made him believe that she was completely genuine. You couldn't question her sincerity for long. "I'm glad you like it here." Good: Trinity seemed much more comfortable now. Mikhail noticed that her manners were very formal and rather alien. Well, of course. None of his missions had ever brought him to Yindse castle: he didn't know much about their customs. "How long have you been here? Are you a keyblader?" Trinity asked the question with a sly little grin. Mikhail smiled in return: a genuine one this time. Something about Trinity's earnest enthusiasm put him a little more at ease. You couldn't question her sincerity for long. "Yes, I am. I started my training five years ago. This has been home ever since.""What about your home world? Unfortunately, my travels have never brought me to Yindse." He smiled a little, his mood less dark than it had been a few moments before. "What do you like best about it?"

His smile, she couldn't explain it but actually reminded her of her new friend Lara. is this what real smiles looked like? Not those who work for you, secretly making fun of you? She felt warmer in her heart at this little new lesson she learned, maybe she could keep an eye on these sorts of smiles appearing? Didn't her brother wear them as well everytime he saw her? Oh how this was all a new great adventure.
He answered her quesiton, He was a keyblader? An actual real keyblader? Seriously? Right there in front of her, she felt like a young little girl swirling with happiness. All this was like a dream come true. Her emotions and words are certainly getting the best of her, "You're a legendary keyblader too? That's so cool! Fighting for the light and all its greatness, why thousands of stories at home about you guys. Is-is it fun? To adventure from world to world defending them from the darkness lurking behind corners?" She really wanted to know, she just realy wanted to know. Like that silly fangirl who wanted to ask if traveling by bus was any different than by limo or standing in the spotlight felt.
He then asked about her homeworld, what was was best about it? Her mood suddenly dropped from excitement fangirls to a bit sad insecurity. It was lonely, everyone judging every action you did, you having to prove yourself when your own parents didn't trust you. The only real friends you had was a brother that was always gone and the silly stories that were covering the shelves. Why, she never wanted to return if she could help it, live here forever. It had been the closest to "home" as books describe she had truly felt... She only been here for few hours, that was considerable sad. Her eyes clouded over at the fact she had to even answer this question. "It-it... Is-is happy and al-alright. We-we bri-bring much ha-ha-happiness to the world..." As soon as she said the words she regretted it.
This was her homeworld! She should be holding it with pride, she quickly brightened up faking an obvious false smile. Her eyes brightened up removing the cloudness of sadness. "It is the greatest place ever, beautiful decorations all around. Why you should try out or huge dinners, I'm sure you will be welcomed there. Most of the people around consider us the most benevolent leaders of all worlds." She stopped there unsure what else to say, she really couldn't say much. She never left the castle, sometimes some would say never even left the old dusty library or her rooms. Why, she wasn't really even considered part of the royal line some days...

ALL THOSE MOMENTS will be lost in time like tears in rain "You're a legendary keyblader too? That's so cool! Fighting for the light and all it's greatness, why thousands of stories at home about you guys. Is-is it fun? To adventure from world to world defending them from the darkness lurking behind corners?" Trinity seemed to be all eagerness, her timidness completely forgotten in her enthusiasm. Mikhail's face turned a faint pink when she heaped praise on the keybladers. Her accolades left him feeling a little bashful. "Well... those legends are about keybladers on a much higher level than I am..." With a more serious expression, Mikhail traced the base of his glass with his fingers, thinking back on old missions. Fun. No... he had always been too focused, too intent on his determination bring the Heartless and the Organization down, and pushing himself too hard to have any fun. It was a shame to dash her bright spirits, but... something about her made Mikhail want to be honest. Well. More honest than usual. "It.. isn't always fun. Not for me. Completing a mission brings great satisfaction, and, depending on the mission, it can be a pleasure to explore new places. I usually don't think of it as an adventure.... Your friend Lara is more the type for that." Here he smiled a little, glancing up at Trinity. Before he could really hide it, a hard expression crossed his face. Then he asked about her home. "It-it... Is-is happy and al-alright. We-we bri-bring much ha-ha-happiness to the world..." Hm. Mikhail watched Trinity. Back to that insecurity. Yindse was alright? Trinity was an ambassador. What was it about her home world that made her so uncomfortable? She couldn't even pretend it was a glittering gem amoung the worlds, like ambassadors were expected to. Anybody could have seen that Trinity was faking a smile. "It is the greatest place ever, beautiful decorations all around. Why you should try out our huge dinners, I'm sure you will be welcomed there. Most of the people around consider us the most benevolent leaders of all worlds." Trinity was a sort of backwards ambassador. She made the world she visited seem dreamlike, and cast her home in sepia tones. Mikhail had tried to spin his question. Tried to make praising Yindse easy. Trinity hadn't even been able to take advantage of that opportunity. Whatever a look into her past might show, it couldn't be happy. Just smile. Trinity knew that speech was unconvincing. Why make her feel worse? "Well, I've been remiss in leaving Yindse unexplored. I'm sure such an illustrious kingdom would make any keyblader feel welcome." Time to change the subject. "My true home world is Radiant Gardens. But, considering the fact that I haven't gone back more than twice in five years... this castle feels like my real home now." Well that was depressing. Why had he said that? MADE BY VEL OF GS

He began to rub the rim of his glass in deep thought, she really didn't catch the motion too focused on waiting for his response. When he finally gave it she felt a little heart sunken, but it rose again as he went on in more detail. There was hope, that he did enjoy it, sure he was focused on his mission but he still enjoyed it sometimes. She smiled almost motherly, "You find happiness in protecting those around you. I think you are as great as those legendary keybladers. That's what it means to wield the light, protect those who need it."
She wasn't even sure why she said it, sounded something corny found in a fairy tale book. Well wasn't she surely showing how often she actually spoke with people without it being some sort of silly mind game. As soon as the words escaped her lips however, she felt the genuine honesty in them. She truly felt this way, it was a little silly honesty, but maybe that's why keybladers were such great heroes?
He was sure that any keyblader were made feel comfortable at the castle, her heart went up. She did her job, right? She felt a little encouragement in his words, and felt even better as he changed the subject, good now she couldn't screw it up. He was from Radiant gardens? She herself has never been, she wondered how it was like.. From the rumors it was suppose to be always sunny. He began explaining how little he went to the garden, she wondered why that was it the place was suppose to be so "sunny" was his work more important than home? Though, not all homes are as "sunny" as they can seem.. That was something she could relate to, plus this place felt like a new home too.
Now she understood him a bit better, she wanted to know even more. "What is your favorite drink? What is it about this place that feels home? Do-do you have a pet of some sort?"

ALL THOSE MOMENTS will be lost in time like tears in rain "You find happiness in protecting those around you. I think you are as great as those legendary keybladers. That's what it means to wield the light, protect those who need it."
That wasn't true. Not entirely. Suddenly, Mikhail was full of misgivings. Once, protecting the innocent really had brought him happiness: bright and life-giving, like sunlight. Now that light was dull and red. Dying stars and flickering embers. Somewhere along the way, satisfaction had been swallowed up by something else... something darker. What was it? Rage? Hopelessness? Trinity gave him more credit than he deserved and that bothered Mikhail. Should he correct her? Frankly, he was too ashamed to. Of course he protected the innocent: no one should loose themselves to the Heartless. And... knowing that people were safe because of the keybladers gave some comfort. But, in the end, Mikhail knew what Trinity did not. His own heart was far darker than it was when he first held a keyblade five years ago. Trinity's expression was bright and cheerful once more. Good. Changing the subject had worked, then. "What is your favorite drink? What it is about this place that feels home? Do -do you have a pet of some sort?"Normal conversation. Mikhail wasn't really used to this. He laughed a little at her eager questioning, pushing his uneasiness into some back corner of his mind. "Tea. My mother loved making tea... She kept rows of china displayed in a glass cabinet back home. I suppose I picked it up from her. There was a particular blend she made herself... father used to order herbs from far away, specifically for her. I've never had a tea that really compared." Still smiling, he looked down at the table cloth. "What about this place feels like home. Hmm. You ask interesting questions. I... am not sure. Perhaps this feels like home because this is the place that you come to after your mission is through. A place where you can rest. This is where I took my apprenticeship: many of the most important lessons I learned growing up, I learned in this castle. This is where a keyblader really feels the most at ease. At least, that's true for me." For a second, Mikhail went back to running his fingertips around his glass. Then he added, "And no, I don't have a pet. I've always thought a dog might be nice, though... What about you? What's your favorite drink? And is there some royal pet back in Yindse?"

She listened to him, as he told his back-story answering her questions. So much information! The more she learned the happier she got wishing to know more about him, about all of them. Libraries, books, stories... They never told everything, they never talked about the heroes from the honest perspective, this place was a gold mine!
She began eating her food, most of it all gone by now. She had eaten it so quick, she forgot what she even had on her plate or even how it tasted. This was one girl that just loved her fairy tales more than anything.
He paused then turned the conversation back to her, asking her favorite drink and if she had a royal pet. She sat there in thought, she didn't really have a pet, then a drink. What was her favorite drink? she never actually thought about anything for herself, never actually decided this.. Never thought she was worthy enough to have "favorites". "I-I... I-I... I like tea too.." she looked down as if admitting the first thing she could think of was her favorite... She honestly kinda liked tea, but just never really considered it a "favorite".. Maybe it could be a favorite now?
He was a keyblader, surely that makes tea worthy enough to be liked more so than before? Not to mention it tasted delicious with lemon and mint mixed to it... Why there were various ways to make teas she never even considered trying out, she suddenly missed the royal library. Maybe she should check out books the next time she is home? Try to surprise him with the tea he would enjoy, as a hero it was what he deserved.
Pet.. pet... She still hadn't answered pet.. She gave a slight sad smile, "closest I've came to having a pet.. is the Archivist pet cat living in the library. Sadly, my parent's were the nicest with gifts." After she said the words, she actually didn't caught on the sadness to them. She was so caught up enjoying the conversation she forgot how "perfect" she was suppose to be making her home sound. The thought will probably not occur to her until after she left the meal and was alone with only her thoughts.

ALL THOSE MOMENTS will be lost in time like tears in rain "I-I... I-I... I like tea too..." The princess looked down at the table. Hm. Mikhail didn't quite buy it, but that didn't bother him. Maybe she didn't have a favorite drink. It was a trivial detail. When she spoke again, there was a faint, sad smile on her face. "Closest I've come to having a pet.... is the Archivist pet cat living in the library. Sadly, my parents were the nicest with gifts." In her most honest moments, Trinity cast Yindse in colorless tones. A kingdom of greys. Briefly, Mikhail wondered what life was really like for the royals of Yindse. Trinity's hints at a sad past made him a little uncomfortable: he didn't know how to respond, but couldn't let the lull in their conversation continue. "I've never really liked cats," Mikhail admitted, "Someone owned a cat one door down from us... mean old tom with one bad eye. Got clawed up trying to pet it. Maybe that was the start of it." That's a stupid story. Why tell it? It seemed impolitic to bad-mouth cats right after a princess told you she liked them. Yet, for some reason, Mikhail felt more comfortable being frank with Trinity than he would have expected. Somewhere along the line, they had stopped talking as keyblader and ambassador. Now it was just a conversation. No fuss or elaborate formalities. No playing out a role. At least... not as much as usual. She had mentioned the library more than once. Perhaps she liked to read? He then told her how he hated cats, this made her blink thinking back to the library cat. It wasn't that bad was it? The thing actually greeted her, it liked the company she had kept with the archivist was out doing whatever it was he did. Maybe like humans cats also have their own issues? "Maybe the cat just didn't like you? Why I bet the kitty just had a bad day, considering his eye... and all.." his eye, she subconsciously touched her face that hid her scales under her make-up, would she attack somebody if they say those hideous things?
The moment passed as quickly as it came, she looked back at him moving her hand back to its original position trying to keep the conversation continuing the pace that it was on. He asked her if she liked reading, why... "Well, to be honest I mainly used the library to hide from others in the castle. Though, i did rather enjoy all the documents about otherworlds and the keybladers. Most weren't as detailed as I had liked, but there was fascinating beautiful fairy tales in them. Like the one about the great keyblade war. I read other books too, like how to use magic and cures to curses, though nothing caught my interest completely." She paused in thought of how little there was on the Boa's curse, her curse... Absolutely nothing.. Part of her wanted to bring the curse up now, but it could ruin the fun friendly environment, she didn't want to do that. Yet, she kept lying.. No, she wasn't lying, just hiding... Like a coward.
These thoughts began to bring up sadder thoughts of how the Library was more of a prison than place of freedom... As the thoughts consumed her mind she just had to speak them out, rarely did she ever get to express her emotions. "I-I... Was actually a prisoner behind dust and books... If I left high Royal society and expectations followed me. No where was safe, though.." She looked up at him eyes large and hopeful, "I hope I can find something here away from it all, a try safe place. Maybe be that fairy tale princess who gets the happy ending, silly as it is." She gave a nervous laugh realizing how crazy she probably sounded, maybe she should leave this poor guy alone.

ALL THOSE MOMENTS will be lost in time like tears in rain When Trinity defended the old tomcat, Mikhail smiled. Yeah. That cat probably hated him. Most cats didn't like small kids. Wasn't that right? Maybe all of the nasty ones had just migrated to his neighborhood. "Well, to be honest i mainly used the library to hide from others in the castle. though, i did rather enjoy all the documents about otherworlds and the keybladers. most weren't as detailed as i had liked, but there was fascinating beautiful fairy tales in them. like the one about the great keyblade war. ..."
Mikhail's grew more serious as he listened. so. the library had been a place to hide? Trinity did seem shy. There was, too, the matter of expectations: royal children often lived under bone-splitting pressure. Maybe it had just been too much? "I-I... Was actually a prisoner behind dust and books... If I left high Royal society and expectations followed me. Nowhere was safe, though... I hope I can find something here away from it all, a safe place. Maybe that fairy tale princess who gets the happy ending, silly as it is." Faded gold light streamed in through west windows. In the quieter after-dinner conversation, a few loud exclamations stood out. Mikhail traced the base of his glass with his fingers again, and said nothing. He thought about Alyxx. The Heartless. Fragments of cities drifting at the End of the World. Dead worlds, and the broken people he had seen on missions. There are no fairy tale endings.
And yet... every once in a while... you saw something that kept you hoping. Maybe, slim though the chances may be, the princess would be among the few who found that impossible, unforeseen happy ending. Trinity seemed to deserve it. She seemed... pure-hearted. More so than most. Maybe it was just her innocence. Pure-hearted and a little too sad for someone so kind. "This is a safe place; safer than any other world I know. No one is a prisoner here. You're under considerable pressure as an ambassador. I understand. But you don't have to hide." Mikhail looked at Trinity and smiled. "Talk to some of the Keyblade masters. They can tell you about their missions, about other worlds. It's even better than reading it in a book."
She was being remarkably open for one so shy at first meeting. There must not have been many people to talk to in that library. MADE BY VEL OF GS
