Personality |
Hel is Driven; Even though she doesn't have a heart anymore, she still has her original ideals. She believes that the encroaching darkness should be stopped, and she can't trust anyone other than herself to do it right. She is not foolhardy, but she will push forward against any opposition until it lies under her feet, or she is forced to make a tactical retreat (at which point she'll start planning for next time). Hel is Cynical; Hel believes everyone acts in their own interests, and has no doubts that anyone she's dealing with will betray her the first chance they get in the name of getting something out of it. Trust is almost a foreign concept to her. Hel is a Happy Nobody; Hel considers her state as a heartless Shell a boon, and does not want a new heart. She believes Nobodies are higher beings, who have removed their weaknesses, and become something greater for it. |
History |
There was a young boy in Traverse Town, an orphan named Fenris. The orphanage Fenris lived in was poor, and overburdened with children. There was never enough to go around, and Fenris was one of the small ones. So he learned to steal food from people who had it. But that meant that the few people who did come to the orphanage to adopt weren't interested in him, because he was a trouble child, a thief. As he grew older, he became the big kid, and he began to use his size to make sure everyone got what they needed. He made it work, because no one else would. Then one day the district was attacked by heartless. The orphans were protected by the guards, but they had to flee the building. It was destroyed in the fighting, and there wasn't anywhere to put the children anymore; they were stuck on the streets. Fenris and one of the other older boys, Thomas, began trying to fight the heartless, sneaking into the more dangerous districts. they were teenagers, but they had been taught by the greatest teacher of all: necessity, and they held their own. They tried to protect what little home they had left from the encroaching darkness, but they weren't strong enough to fight of the never-ending swarm. Finally, they decided to strike at the source: a building they new the darkness had made into a kind of nest. They ran in, swinging their blades at anything that moved, but they were just kids, and they were out of their league. Realizing they had to retreat, Fenris tried to bring Thomas with him, but Thomas had gotten seperated, and was trapped inside. Fenris went back to the safe districts and tired to get help. The guards refused: they couldn't leave the majority unprotected for the sake of one child, who was likely already gone. But a man with a keyblade was there, and he promised to do what he could. he went to the building, and cleared it of heartless. But Thomas was nowhere to be found; he was most likely one of the heartless the Keyblade Weilder had destroyed. When he returned empty-handed, Fenris was devistated. He didn't understand, didn't want to understand, that it wasn't the Keyblader's fault. He lost all faith in authority figures that night, and swore he would be a real hero. The next time he went out, he had decided he wouldn't come back to the safe district until after he had destroyed every heartless in town. He kept his promise. Hel woke up in an unfamiliar place: the World that Never Was. Her memory in tatters, she knew that she had been a he, and that he had died because the system was useless in helping. She remembered Thomas was dead, and she had vague recollections of the orphanage. She explored the city-scape until she discovered how to open the Corridors of Darkness, and used them to go back to Traverse Town. There she discovered that heartless ignored her: she no longer had a heart for them to take. She decided that she had transformed, getting rid of weaknesses and had become something stronger, which could fight the heartless better than ever before, and set up camp in an abandoned building in the heartless-filled districts. From there she would make expiditions into the darkness, trying to clear away the scourge of darkness. after a year of this, she is very good at it, and has begun using the Corridors to explore other worlds, looking for tricks and tools to help her free her home. |
