Appearance

Nikolai's eyes are the signature vampire crimson red. They are normally either very sad, very kind, or very frightened. Depending on the situations around him and within his head determines this. When close to becoming a heartless his eyes become laced with black pigment. His hair is golden blond, a stark contrast to that of his older brother's. 

His skin is very pale white, even more so then a normal Vampire, and a dark weblike pigment laces his back and up towards his shoulders and arms. He normally wears long sleeved shirts and sweatshirts to keep anyone from seeing said darkness. This is due to his actual body attempting to take on some of the darkness and keeping it away from his dangerously darkened heart. 

Nikolai is very weak physically. He doesn't fight, would be terribly difficult for him to do so anyway. He has very little strength and yet will often overwork it anyway.

Personality

UNCOMMONLY KIND: For a vampire from wonderland, Niko isn’t much of a scarer. The scaring was kind of stolen from him through the life he’s been living. He’s a very kind and gentle soul to just about everyone, even those with great darknesses in their hearts. He always seems to have an irritatingly bright smile on his face, even in the darkest of times. The only way to tell what he’s truly feeling is to look into his eyes. They tell all.

STRONG WILLED: Despite the seemingly very fragile personality and body Nikolai is very strong willed. Working very hard to keep himself from falling into the darkness. He’s forced himself to fight so much that even his body has become a place to store the darkness that has accumulated within his heart. He is very hard working as he will continue to participate in normal activities and work duties even if he is feeling unwell. He has come to be a person that will listen to peoples pains and sadnesses and push back his own.

IMPULSIVE: Oohkay, yeah, so um… Nikolai is a little bit impulsive. Being locked up for the first half of his life inside a house has caused him to be a little bit reckless. He has no value for his own life and instead has a protective sense. He’s very protective over life in general. He’ll step in front of a train if it saves someone’s life. And he’s willing to do just about anything without telling anyone. He will even sometimes do things that he thinks is right without thinking of the consequences. Or the people around him.

TRUST WORTHY: If Nikolai makes a promise, He keeps his word. If told personal information, He’ll protect it with his life. If given a task he’ll finish it. If given something or someone to protect. He’ll protect it no matter the circumstances.

HAUNTED: Sadly, despite the one supposed to be haunting, Niko is very haunted emotionally, by the darkness, memories, voices, tauntings and dreams of those people he’s cured. For the most part he can seem to keep the darkness under control, but all the time he sees flashbacks, hears voices, and has hallucinations around him. He knows the difference between that of the darkness and reality, and has learned to ignore the memories. However, he does have terribly bad dreams and sometimes can be overwhelmed by his dreams and memories making it very painful for him. Also his body is sometimes in deep pain as the darkness removes itself from his heart and onto his back and into his eyes.

DARKENED:Oh yes, there is a dark part of Niko’s personality. Especially when he’s terribly hungry or after being haunted by a terrible dream or nightmare. He gets rather dark in nature and anti-social. If people try to talk to him he’ll ignore there voice and not even speak with them. If hungry, he’ll look for a source and feed to his heart’s content. He’ll have no regard for any kind of life and will shrink into his own little shell that is completely and impossible to break him out of. The only cure is time itself. (Unless he is really hungry.) He rather despises this side of him, but it is a result of the darkness in his own heart.

History

Nikolai was born into a respected Vampire family in Halloween Town as the second son down the line. Even as a young vampire he rather hated to drink the blood of others. He was always so gentle to the animals that were given to him to drink from. He would often times refuse and would go a long time without eating. He was sick a lot. His parents would even find the animals he’d been given still alive somewhere hidden within his room. This forced his parents to have to watch him feed.

They found that instead of feeding directly from the animal’s blood he would heal any darkness within their hearts. His parents suddenly became very protective of their son. Realizing the potential in his power and the idea that their other son may have the same power they locked their family away from the rest of the world. Or away from the rest of the “worlds” anyway. They let the older son on a less tight leash allowing him access to Halloween Town. But Nikolai was kept locked inside, unable to even meet normal Halloween people.

When his brother suggested they go on a journey Niko immediately took to the idea and went along without a second thought. They soon left and Niko loved it automatically. He loved the new places and people he met. At first, he went as far as not feeding at all because everything was so beautiful to him. Life was precious. There were even times that he stopped his brother from scaring someone because he had a sense of wrong doing toward those people.

That was… until he met her. She was beautiful. She offered her blood up to him. And he refused. She told him that she had nothing else to live for and so she offered up her blood as a sacrifice to him. Giving into his Vampiric desires he fed from her. Not completely. He didn’t kill her. Nor did he allow her to become a vampire. However, all darkness and guilt was instantly taken away from her as Niko fed from her.

It was then that he realized he could make people happy, and that he had no trouble feeding on people. Without telling his brother about this power he began to learn about it. He quickly learned how to control what he took in when he fed. He was soon able to distinguish the difference between the darkness and the blood. However, being much too kind, he did end up curing many people of their darkness, even though it was completely obvious that he was having nightmares and day dreams.

He forced himself to learn the differences from the dreams and memories he knew were not his own and real life. Nikolai did everything he could to keep his pain and sorrows hidden from his brother. That is, until Simon confronted him about it. He told him then. But his brother did not seem to understand. Niko accepted that and move on.

His heart took on a completely new type of personality. He began to believe that he was meant to take the darkness from people’s hearts and therefore decided that he was simply a vessel to be used to heal. The hearts and lives of the people around him were so much more important than his own.

Then it started happening to his bother. It quickly got worse as Simon was unable to control his powers. Being unable to feed without taking in the darkness as well. Nikolai saw it happen and he hated it.

Then one night, he met a woman. She would not tell him her name. But she was dark and mysterious. She asked him, no, begged him to take away her guilt. Without thinking, Nikolai accepted. She wanted to be healed. Of course he would accept. So rather then feeding on her blood he took in the darkness. But he didn’t realize just how much darkness there was. It got to a point where he couldn’t stop himself, he just continued to take and take and take the darkness.

It wasn’t until his body began quivering and his eyes started lacing with black that the women shoved him away. Nikolai was in complete agony over this one feed. She had tricked him. He couldn’t stop screaming and crying desperately for his brother. When Simon came running Niko begged him to end his life. Begged for death. Something was happening. Something really bad. And Nikolai didn’t want it. In a complete state of shock, despair, and a crazed mind, Nikolai begged for the silence and tranquility of death.

Against Niko’s words and wishes, Simon tried to heal him, but was unable to. It was only then that Simon agreed to kill him. ”I’m sorry.” were the last words he heard before the dagger entered his chest and directly into his heart. He wanted to tell his brother that he was forgiven, that he loved him, That there was nothing Simon could do to upset him, but the darkness over took him quickly.

As if by miracle, once the brother left Niko’s body the woman came back. She placed him into a glass coffin and left him sleeping within a cave on Papou island.
