Appearance |
Similar to hover image. Generally she likes to wear dresses like the one in the image. Since she's begun her search for simon and nikolai, however, she wears more rugged, practical clothes. Likes leather and lace. Usually wears something girly, like bangle bracelets, even out on the road. Has a short-handled double-bladed axe which she wears strapped to her back. The whites of her eyes go black when she is hunting or fighting. |
Personality |
*THE QUIET ONE: Natalia keeps quiet about her motives and inner thoughts. This, and her unpredictability, can make her hard to truly know. Observant. Thoughtful. Good at keeping up a facade. Wants to be accepted: this is part of the reason why she played the perfect daughter for so many years. Not easily frightened. Over the years, she has developed a strong determination to be independent, capable, and able to do what she needs to on her own. Works hard. Remembers. *LIFE'S A GRIM FAIRY TALE: Natalia has a sense of creepy whimsy and a dark sense of humor. As a vampire, she has a Halloween Town sense of taste: likes old rundown places, faded things, cobwebs and spiders, run down sides of town, dark fairytale beauty. Natalia deeply appreciates beauty. Tends to see opportunities: not an optimist or a pessimist, she chooses to see possibilities for good even in bad situations. Loves winter sunlight. Daydreamer. Loves scaring and is good at it. Life is valuable: she hates the thought of "draining" anybody, but people's reaction to vampires outside of Halloween Town puzzles her. She needs blood to survive. Her life is worth something, too, right? *CAN'T KEEP ME DOWN FOREVER: Natalia secretly wants freedom from her restrictive and controlled life. Curious. Wants to see the world. Because so much of her life was controlled, she tends to do things without explanation: for example, she'll take off without saying why or where, or will make a big decision and only tell you about it afterwards. Doesn't expect goodness from people: is realistic about human nature. Natalia will go along to get along up to a certain point: you can only push her so far. Resilient. Stronger, more iron-willed than she seems. |
History |
Natalia Faye was born into an old, aristocratic vampire family. As an only child, she carried high expectations at a young age: only the best was good enough for her, and only her best was accepted. That was fine by little Natalia. She was eager to please. There were no sons to carry on the family line, but Natalia's parents determined to marry her into a noble vampire house. They arranged a marriage with the eldest son of another prestigious family. Simon Voide. Occasionally the two were forced to play together. He feigned complete disinterest, but Natalia didn't mind. Most of her relationships were controlled. Cultivated. But this was different in one way: she actually liked this kid. Simon... he could be a real friend. Heaven knew those were in short supply. With each passing year, the Faye family boasted more and more about their porcelain-perfect daughter. Natalia trained hard. Studied hard. Spoke in turn. Excelled in scaring. Thankfully, scaring delighted the young vampire. The spooks and playful screams took the edge off her tedious life. As time went by, Simon and Natalia grew close. Even though the relationship was forced on them, her affection for him was genuine. Then, everything changed.. Step onto the stage, Nikolai Voide.Youngest son. Little brother. At first, the girl was overjoyed to hear the news: Simon had a brother. Lucky! But soon, a cloud blocked out her sun. Natalia and Simon stopped meeting. No more scaring, training, or talking with Simon. Both families seemed anxious to keep her away. Loneliness gnawed at Natalia: a constant ache. She managed to see Simon every once in a while. Apparently, her parents still wanted the marriage, despite whatever new development took shape in the Voide house. Shen Simon pushed his brother away, she tried to talk him out of it. Brotherhood was too precious to be thrown away like that. She missed her friend, but never blamed Nikolai. Sometimes.... there were things you just couldn't control. As a child, Natalia accepted the rules. Just be a "good girl". And she was really too young to understand what an arranged marriage really was. As she grew older, Natalia learned to question. To want something different. Just to make her own decisions. Her parents seemed to think the world of her, but she began to wonder: how much they would still care if she deviated from her closely set path? When Simon left town with his younger brother, Natalia tagged along, saying she was tired of how the family was acting. It was true. Every word. Running away: it was a rush. Finally. Natalia could do whatever she chose. See the world. Speak her mind. For a while, she deeply enjoyed herself. Then a few little problems grew into troubles to great to ignore. At first, Nikolai was too kind-hearted to scare. What's the problem with scaring? It's just good fun, but whatever. That was just who he was. Then the nightmares started. Soon, Nikolai interfered with scaring. One day, without warning, Natalia left. As usual, she never really explained herself. Her reasons for leaving were twofold. First, she was starting to be a little afraid of Nikolai's powers. She didn't understand them, and the effect they had on the boy frightened her. She didn't want to abandon anybody: but she was frightened. Second, her little experiment just entered stage two. How would her parents react to her now? Turning away from the boys, Natalia went home. Cold. Ice cold. The servants left her in the foyer to wait. When her father and mother finally came, Natalia felt her heart sink in her chest. Her parents cross-questioned her. Question after question. Burning eyes. Venomous words. Natalia understood. She knew. She left a note pinned on her pillow and ran away without even a "goodbye". But... somehow she hadn't imagined such a bitter homecoming. In the heat of their argument, Natalia heard a baby's cry. A sibling. A baby boy, born while she was away. See the child? Of course not. As time went by, and Natalia tried to repair her relationship, it became clear: the family had an heir. Natalia. Simon. Nikolai. They weren't needed anymore. Finally, she had enough of that place, that house, that life. Leaving a letter for her brother sealed with red wax on the mantlepiece, Natalia left home. Traveling with only a few belongings, Natalia set out to find the Voide brothers. |
